Overseas property portal Property Abroad has revealed the top 5 most popular destinations with overseas property buyers on their site. Spanish property is still topping the charts, according to the portal.

In what will become a monthly look at overseas property buyer trends, the portal found that Spanish property was the most searched for, and viewed by visitors to the site during the month of March.

"Spain has always been our most popular, and our primary user base comes from Britain, so this shows the Brits still love Spain," said Les Calvert, Property Abroad director.

"The current situation has changed things though; we now have the likes of America coming into take the second place that would usually have gone to Cyprus or Portugal. We are expecting America to lose this position however, as Sterling gains ground on the Euro and loses it to the Dollar," he explained.

The only other semi-surprise from the findings is that Cyprus has dropped out of the top-5; surprising because Cyprus featured in the top spot of the Jet-to-Let survey a couple of months back. However some will not find this surprising because of Cyprus' current issues with buyers failing to get their title deeds. To these people the Jet-to-Let findings were a surprise.

Also worth mentioning is Turkey's position at number 4, it seems that Turkey is the emerging destination now that Cyprus was a couple of years back -- hopefully they can keep it real with the title deeds and avoid falling back out of favour in a similar fashion.
